Not all butter is created equal. I’ll admit, when it came to butter I chose based on whatever happened to be on sale that day, NO MORE! I am so happy that I gave Plugra European Style Butter a try! Honestly, I’d never heard of this brand of butter until I got a message from the awesome people at Plugra asking if I’d ever tried their butter in a recipe. My first thought was “hmmm, I’ve never heard of this but now I really want to try it!”. Silly me, Plugra Butter is available right at Shop Rite and somehow I never noticed the beautiful gold package! I picked up two packs and wanted to make something that really showcased the butter, what better way then some compound butter {fancy pants way of saying flavored butter}. These 4 Compound Butters are fantastic and are such an easy way to add tons of flavor to dishes! Strawberry Lime, Fiery, Lemon Pepper & Honey Mustard Butters!
Maybe you are wondering, whats the big deal about Plugra Butter? You can most definitely taste that this is a high quality butter! Why it differs from regular table butter? Plugra Butter is slow churned and this yields a butter with a lower moisture content, giving you an ultra creamy product. I’ve made flavored butters before but this time the end product was definitely better! When left at room temp the butter held together so much better, not turning into complete mush on your counter, this butter held its structure wonderfully. Another benefit of using a butter with less moisture? This butter helps cakes rise higher, cookies crisp up more evenly and a flakier pastry.
I love all 4 of these compound butters! The Strawberry Lime is a little sweet with a hint of tart from lime zest, perfect on a biscuit! Honey Mustard would work beautifully rubbed under and on top of the skin a roast chicken or turkey breast. The Fiery Butter, watch out, this one is spicy! Sauté some shrimp then toss with this butter for a real kicked up dish. Last but not least, Lemon Pepper! This one would add amazing peppery flavor to a piece of salmon or over grilled chicken. Make these butters and you’ve got yourself instant flavor right in your fridge!
This was seriously delicious! Warm biscuit with a good helping of strawberry lime butter!

- For the Strawberry Lime:
- 4 oz Plugra Unsalted Butter, room temp
- 1/2 lb strawberries, small dice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- For the Honey Mustard:
- 4 oz Plugra Unsalted Butter, room temp
- 2 Tbsp dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 heaping Tbsp honey
- For the Lemon Pepper:
- 4 oz Plugra Unsalted Butter, room temp
- 1- 1 1/2 Tbsp ground pepper
- zest of 1 lemon
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
- For the Fiery:
- 4 oz Plugra Unsalted Butter, room temp
- 2 Tbsp Tabasco sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 pinches crushed red pepper flakes
- The Strawberry Lime Butter is the only one that requires a little cooking. Place the strawberries, water and strawberries into a small saucepan, over low heat. Bring up to a simmer and cook for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, puree the mixture in a blender. Stir together 6 Tbsp of the strawberry Puree with the butter until smooth. It will take a couple minutes to incorporate well. Cover and refrigerate. {what to do with the extra puree? Pour some chilled Champagne over and enjoy}.
- Honey Mustard Butter: Stir together all the ingredients in a bowl until well incorporated and smooth. Cover and refrigerate.
- Fiery Butter: Stir together all the ingredients in a bowl until well incorporated and smooth. Because of the liquid of the tabasco it will take a little bit more mixing to incorporate. Cover and refrigerate.
- Lemon Pepper: Stir together all the ingredients in a bowl until well incorporated and smooth. Because of the liquid of the lemon it will take a little bit more mixing to incorporate. Cover and refrigerate.

Thanks so much! The strawberry lime was really wonderful on the warm biscuit & I enjoyed it on a cinnamon raisin bagel this morning! Excited to use the butters!

No lime in the strawberry lime butter?

Oh wow, what a mistake I’ve made! The lime is simply lime zest so go ahead and add as much as you’d prefer. Great catch, will correct it.
