Homemade Garlic & Cheese Croutons

HomemadeCrouton

I don’t know what it is but we always seem to have an abundance of bread in the house, maybe its an Italian thing. The only problem is that we never seem to use it all in its prime so what do I do with leftover bread?? Homemade Garlic & Cheese Croutons of course! I have a few really big pet peeves in the kitchen and throwing away food of any kind is a huge one for me, I hate wasting anything! Whether its a ciabatta, French baguette, Italian loaf or what I used here, 6 inch sub rolls… make croutons!! A few ingredients and you can make some fabulously tasty and inexpensive croutons!

Cubed bread tossed with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder then baked until golden. I then tossed the crunchy croutons with fresh chopped parsley and a couple handfuls of grated pecorino romano cheese. Popped back into the oven for 5 minutes and thats it. So simple, so delicious!! Heres the funny thing about the bread I used…. like I said it was just inexpensive soft sub rolls, they came out so light and airy, perfectly crisp and yes so good that we were eating them out of a bowl after dinner. Skip the bagged stuff and make your own. Go ahead and be creative with what you season them with, have fun with it… thats what cooking is about.

Homemade croutons are great to have around the house. I use them on my salads and on my fresh tomato soup for a extra special touch. Love this recipe. Thanks for stopping by Foodie Fridays. Hope to see you again tonight!
    Blessings,
