Before there were kids I really loved doing a “cutting board dinner” once a week. After work I’d stop by our local Italian specialty store and pick up a variety of cheeses, meats, olives, bread and whatever else looked good. Something about the rustic-ness of a big wooden cutting board filled with some of my favorites, some music playing in the background and of course a delicious bottle of wine! It had been so long since i’ve put together a “cutting board dinner” but then along came Uncorked Wine Ventures and I thought what better way to enjoy great wine then with this rustic meal.
I’m sure you’ve heard of wine clubs right? Where you can gift or receive a new wine to try monthly. Well Uncorked Wine Ventures happens to be my favorite! Why? Well because they aren’t some massive company, they are a family owned business, two brother-in-laws to be exact. These guys use their incredible knowledge of wines and work with wineries from California, Washington and Oregon to bring their customers a taste of wines thats are many times not widely available.
Now I am no wine connoisseur by any means; I drink what I like and yup sometimes that doesn’t technically “pair” with my meal. But for me, I think its about enjoying yourself, having a special someone or friends to share with and to have some memorable nights. I really enjoy trying new wines and I love that with Uncorked Wine Ventures I get to try something new every month! A special treat for me and the hubby and a great excuse for us to sit down and relax {you know once the kids are asleep!}. Let me tell you, its a very exciting moment when the doorbell rings and I get to see whats inside!
I invited my brother and sister in law over to share the wine and “cutting board dinner”. We all really enjoyed the casual meal and great wine! The Sola Chardonnay 2013 was light, crisp, a light citrus finish… very enjoyable! The Vin Blancs was equally wonderful! This one was also light, crisp but with a floral finish. Both wines are ones I’d never seen or heard of and thats what I love about this wine club! I cannot wait to see what next month has in store for us!
There are options for every budget which is an added bonus in my book! Anywhere from $40 {Explorations Wine Club- 2 bottles} to $195 {Reserve Selections} a month. They even have some beautiful gift baskets available! Lets just say, I’d be thrilled to receive one as a gift! I am all for gifts that can be consumed! The crazy thing, the holidays are creeping up on us and these would make for a great gift!!
The wine was fantastic but lets not forget about that gorgeous cutting board! Just like the wine, this is all about what you enjoy! Don’t like bleu cheeses {sorry I can’t deal with the smell} then don’t include them on your board. Heres what I included:
Fresh Figs
Garlic & Herb Cheddar
Brie that I drizzled with local honey and sprinkled with toasted chopped almonds
Dry Sausage
Sharp Provolone
Mixed olives
Grapes
a variety of bread sticks and crackers
I do hope you check out the Wine Club from Uncorked Wine Ventures and keep them in mind for all your wine needs! They are just fabulous!!!

I could easily make a whole meal out of wine and cheese and be supremely contented. Figuring out the pairings is half the fun. I am always up for trying something new.
