Chili Cheese Dogs

May 22, 2015 by Angela LeMoine 4 Comments

Chili Cheese Dogs | LeMoine Family Kitchen. Grilling season is here and I love a good chili dog! Perfect for Memorial Day and 4th Of July BBQs too!

Yes!!! The official start to BBQ season is here!!! I love getting outside and grilling, everything tastes better grilled! I’m a big fan of hot dogs! I will say the one and only brand I’ll buy is Applegate Hot Dogs, they taste great and are not full of junk! Thats what I used for these fantastic Chili Cheese Dogs which I think would be great for this weekends get togethers! The chili has a perfect amount of kick to it with great flavor. Set up a fun chili dog bar with different toppings so everyone can make their own to their liking.

Heres the key to chili for a hot dog, it is all about the fine texture of the meat. You don’t want giant chunks of beef for a chili top topping. How you get the finer texture is super simple, the meat and sauce go into the pot together cold and you simply break up the meat with a potato masher until nice and fine. The chili is made up of onion, jalapeño, chili powder, garlic powder, oregano, cumin, cayenne pepper, crushed tomato, a little water and of course the ground beef. Spread the chili over top a nicely charred hot dog and finished with a sprinkle of sharp shredded cheddar. BBQ perfection!
