How do you start your mornings? Mine always start with a double shot of espresso and a splash of half and half. Recently I had the chance to try the new Land O’Lakes® Buttercream Style Half & Half not only in my morning espresso but I used it in my recipe for this perfect Sweet Biscuits with Honey Cinnamon Butter. So delicious and the perfect cool, crisp Fall morning pairing.

As many of you I’m sure, mornings can be really hectic. I know for me once my alarm goes off its hustle time. Getting the boys up, fed, ready for school, lunches and back packs packed. The first thing I do before anything every morning is make myself a double shot of espresso with a splash of rich & creamy half & half.

While shopping at my local Walmart the other day I came across the new Land O’Lakes® Buttercream Style Half & Half and thought I’d give it a try! It is made with an extra rich blend of real milk and cream and is definitely going to become a staple around here. Just that little splash in my double shot espresso and wow, a perfectly smooth, rich and creamy cup of coffee to get me going!

I thought it would be really fun to use the half & half in a biscuit recipe. There is nothing like a homemade biscuit is there? Then I thought why not go with something special for breakfast…  Sweet Biscuits with Honey Cinnamon Butter. The cooler Fall weather really makes me think of certain flavors and scents and cinnamon is definitely at the top of that list! I thought that a cinnamon honey butter would be perfect with these sweet biscuits.

The honey cinnamon butter is so easy and adds really wonderful flavor. Its just 2 ingredients-  honey with cinnamon mixed right in already and softened butter. You can use this on toast or melted over a big stack of pancakes. Its so easy and just delicious! The warmth of the cinnamon and the sweetness of the honey just melts right into these light and fluffy biscuits. Having a brunch before Thanksgiving dinner? These are great for it… they freeze really well so you can make them ahead of time then pop them in the oven to warm up before serving.

Sweet Biscuits with Honey Cinnamon Butter
Author: Angela LeMoine
Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 8 tbsp cold butter, small dice
  • 1 cup new Land O’Lakes® Buttercream Style Half & Half
  • —-
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 heaping tsp cinnamon honey
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl mix the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Add in the butter and using a fork or pastry cutter, combine the butter into the dry mix until about the size of peas.
  3. Stir in the new Land O’Lakes® Buttercream Style Half & Half until just mostly combined. The dough will be a bit wet and sticky.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead just maybe 5-10 times gently. Form into a rectangle about an inch tall. Cut into 6 even{ish} squares and place onto a lined baking sheet.
  5. If you’d like a little sheen to the top of the biscuits brush with a little egg wash {lightly whisked egg and a splash of water} then sprinkle with a little sugar.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, until golden.
  7. In a small bowl mix the softened butter and cinnamon honey. If you cannot find a mix add in 2 heaping tsp honey and 1/2-1 tsp cinnamon to taste.

I’m loving the idea of this new Buttercream Style Half & Half and I love even more what you did with it in these biscuits. I’m trying a new slow cooker dish tonight with dumplings and I think I’m going to use some of this in the dumpling mixture. Great job here as always!

Making your sweet biscuits to serve as shortcake for my fresh berries as a dessert after dinner tonight. I have not found the Land O’Lake product, but I used half buttermilk and half regular half and half.
